Description

Join the staff of the Davie County Public Library for a viewing and discussion of the TED Talk “The Politics of Fiction” by Elif Shafak. In "The Politics of Fiction,"Elif Shafak, the most-read female author in Turkey, uses her unique literary voice to describe the ability reading and writing fiction gives us to transcend boundaries and understand the experiences of others. Moving and inspiring, this is the kind of talk that will make you truly believe in the power of books. TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
